I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter Boston Theatre reviews
Not very engaging
A big deal was seeing I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter - I've wanted to see him live in concert for decades! The reality, however, was disappointing. There was no acknowledgment of the audience or the city when the concert started. This anonymous, impersonal vibe lasted the entirety of the show. The tempo upset me the most. Every song on the set list was played at double the recorded tempo in order to speed through the show. The bizarre tempo kept people in their seats, even though the audience tried to sing along and dance. The overall impression is that they were just there to take our money. They couldn't get off the stage fast enough and they didn't care about anyone who came to see them. No opening act was a huge opportunity missed. It seemed like a chance to provide new talent a great break, but we got nothing.
